We're BAACKK!

So as our wonderful and much needed holiday break came to a close everyone donned their new Khakis and heavy coats and headed off to school.
I've had a couple of students ask when we could take a nap and one who slept through snack this morning. Its sweet and funny to realize that these little guys are just as tired and sleepy as me!

Today we learned about Mexico!! So I taught them a few common phrases in Spanish and then we talked about fiestas!! Then we made this pinata!
Although quite simple and ghetto a little bit.. they loved it!! They loved gluing the crepe paper on it. They loved hitting it with the yard stick before lunch. They especially loved rushing to the candy after I busted it for them.

It was lots of fun and here is how we made it.
You need:
Large Paper Bag
(use one from the grocery store, I used a shopping bag with
handles and it was so heavy duty it wouldn't break)
Different colored Crepe paper
Glue Sticks
Candy
Markers
Yarn or other string

Use the Markers to decorate/write something on the bag. We wrote a capital M because we were learning about MEXICO today. Cut the Crepe paper into about 3 inch rectangles. Then glue the crepe paper onto bag. Fill with Candy. Staple the sides together or tie with string. Hang from ceiling. Demolish it. Enjoy the smiles on the kids faces. The End!

P.S. If you have to stand in a chair to hang it from the ceiling and you have 3 year olds watching remind them that you have to be at least 20 years old to stand in a chair. They totally believe you. ;)
